Springhaven Croft\Potpourri Publishing

From our Scottish ancestors, we learned that a croft was a small tenant farm of less than five acres, with a few animals. Normally, they supported a single family.  When we retired, we wanted to build a haven for our old age, a refuge from the rush and haste and anger of the world, not just for us but for our family, friends, and neighbors. As Native Americans and Christians, we knew that we needed to care for each other and the land, doing what we could to pass on to the seventh generation the things we knew to be true and good. Springhaven Croft is a small, one-family operation operated as an LLC/Ltd company. It was our first dream. In all things, we remember the verse Micah 6:8  “He has shown thee, oh man, what is good; and what does the Lord desire of Thee? But to act justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with thy God.” And after the farm was set up with our animals, fields, solar power, a hydraulic ram, woods, and the buildings replaced or repaired, we set out to make the second dream come true: our publishing venture.

And Traveler kept writing, and so did Fawn and so did Dan and so did Tbear, and we kept publishing.

And soon our books filled one bookcase and then two...

Back to the tale of publishing: I had three contracts with traditional publishers, and none of them fulfilled their promises. I started studying what I could do and discovered Indie publishing. We set up our company and published my first book, The Infant Conspiracy. Then I learned to market, reedited the book, and it started to sell. Note to all newbies; be sure you have a market before you do all that work!

Encouraged, I wrote more books; then Tbear started writing, and Fawn and Dan. Tbear was just 17 when his first fantasy book was published.

Tbear and Dan three years ago at Noah’s Ark. It was a hot day and alot of walking but worth it.

And the rainbows on the covers have nothing to do with a rock group, although the Rock of Ages swings pretty well around here

OK so I just love the sign from one of our trips to the Wilds in Ohio. It’s a place where you drive through and the animals are loose.

Fawn loves her featherweight, 1930’s sewing machine.

Fawn Spencer, M.A, M.Div, LPCC, loves reading. She is writer of the Budget series; books designed to let you live your life inexpensively and expansively. The first two books are out, she is working on the next one. She lives in her own home with her husband Scott, 1 cat, 1 dog, a library of over 3500 books, two parrots, Scott’s various snakes , and an incredible stash of yarn and fabric. She is also a professional counselor for children who have been abused and hurt by life. She is one of the pastors at Springhaven Fellowship. She loves gourmet cooking. Scott loves eating gourmet cooking. It was a match made in heaven.
