At least, that’s what I was asked in a meme sent me by friends.
Six out of seven days is a lot of mommying when you’re pushing the high side of the seventies —or, as one meme put it, it was easier to be 20 in the 70’s than 70 in the 20’s. This was their mom’s work weekend, so they stayed with Great Grandma most of the week, 24/7. All three —mom, Penelope, and Violet — dressed as mermaids to visit a local nursing home; the residents loved it.
Besides my birthday this week, we had a cria born —a cute little white one —so all the lady alpacas ought to be un-pregnant and will remain so until we breed them in the spring. Fawn and Scott are back from their trip, so will be taking over the baby care scene for us at least half the time. We had rain for two days, and may there be much more. Dan completed his second book, which came out just this week. I am in the throes of editing the Christmas book for the year and planning the end-of-year party for those in my creative writing group —prepping 30 gift bags, certificates, three giveaway bags, games, and a survey—yeah, busy. However, would rather be busy than not; people who stay busy live longer, are happier, and have less time to fuss about the politics and craziness going on all around us. They say common sense is in short supply, and looking at our congress arguing over whether or not to keep the government shut down, even if it hurts the poor and disenfranchised, just so they can inveigle ways to steal more, makes me inordinately sad. When did being kind become against the law? We had a local politician who had $5000 left of her campaign money; she sent it back to the several folks who had donated it, since they hadn’t used it. She got fined $ 1,000 because you aren’t allowed to return campaign funds in this county? She couldn’t keep it ethically, at least in her mind, so it was suggested she donate it to another politcian of her party. Doesn’t that sound like money laundering? I just don’t know.
But I want to get to the specials for November: there are five this month—two of them on brand-new books —and I think you’ll love them. At least I am bringing some good news!
