Dan’s 3-D printer is now grandpa’s magic machine; our CPW (Cutest preschooler in our world) has learned it can print butterflies, axolotls, boats, flowers, almost anything she can dream up to ask for and she is enchanted by the prospect. She just comes to her great grandpa and asks if the machine can make a boat; he inputs and she watches fascinated as the machine dances and scribbles and makes a boat. She has now been listing off things she would like next, everything from a turtle to a whole family of butterflies in different colors. In between visits from the CPW and her sister, he actually makes practical things; however, I am going to have to find a hole in the budget to buy filament! He loves his new hobby.
This week our writing group met at the library, starting up for the new year. We average 18 to twenty members. It was great to catch up after the holidays and discuss our goals and our hopes for the new year to come. I hope you have goals as well; not resolutions, those are depressingly like trying to push a boulder up a mountain, biting off more than can be done or reached. A goal looks back at what you’ve done and what you’d like to do, breaks it down into achievable objectives and then pushes you through with small rewards along the way.
I am going out next Friday as long as I don’t get waylaid by winter storms, to pick up my husband’s puppy. He doesn’t know yet. I’d like to ask your help in deciding what to name her. Right now, she is 7 pounds of mischief; when she grows up, she will look elegant. All suggestions will be appreciated and I shall set up a suitable prize for the best name. In the meantime, while thinking of a dog name, I have just the right special to help you with the new year.
