Are You Traveling This Year?

Or might you be a homebody?

We can’t wait to wade in the ocean again.

March is here!  Between St. Patrick’s day(17th), daylight savings time (8th, groan), the first day of spring(20th), and the snow/rain/warm/cold like a drunken sailor out there weather, we’ve got alpaca shearing, canary nesting season, and possibly a new batch of kittens.  We seem to have acquired another feral cat. She does not have her ear knicked, and she is suspiciously fat. She also won’t allow anyone to pick her up.  I suppose if I were approaching terminal birth velocity, I shouldn’t either. And yet, to me, spring is a family time, a time of birth and greening and family joys.  I shadowed that idea in the specials this month. From poetry, recipes, and a family heading into space, this spring’s specials are a winter break wonder.

We are prepping for our trip to the beach at the end of March, and I am very much looking forward to a few days away.  Beni II is going to watch the farm for us, and six of us, plus 3 kids, are heading south.  You watch; Maryland will get a snow or a blizzard when we get there. That’s OK. I am taking my sewing machine and can relax by putting together a new quilt.

Don’t forget to pack me!

We’re deep in the throes of making the syrup for the year; just bottled another 76 ounces of the wonderful stuff. I wish I could send you some just-made syrup. It’s heavenly.

Why does most of our sweet stuff come in the spring? We’ll be harvesting honey shortly, and between the two, we’ll have all our sweetener for breadmaking, waffles, and pancakes, and summer snow, all within two months of each other.  We gather, process, jar, and seal it, then set it on the home pantry shelf; the feeling you get when something is put away and ready for the next year is wonderfully comforting.

I hope you enjoyed the specials last month, and I am posting some for this month as well. Please leave reviews after you’ve downloaded and read the books; it really helps.  I appreciate your assistance.  And don’t forget to share this newsletter with your family and friends, the more the better.

And drum roll, here they come!

March 2-6  Free download! Tea, Me, and Memory;

Wander with me in the realm of poetry remembering some of the events that shaped my world.  Pour yourself a cup of tea, take some shortbread,  sit down to listen with your heart’s ears what the world was, is, and ought to be.  It’s a poetic journey through the highs and lows of life, one verse at a time. I’ll be glad of your visit.

March 8-15 brings a 99-cent download from Amazon: Kitchen Memories.

Leave the stress of the world and rest a while. Remember when kitchens smelled wonderful, food tasted good, and people still shared recipes over a cup of coffee and fresh muffins?  Join me as I share some of the memories, stories, and especially recipes as I walk this memorial path back to the land of my childhood and kin in the Appalachians.  You might want to stay.  You might want to make a pot of hot soup and homemade cheese biscuits.  Every recipe tells a story—and some are juicier than the peach cobbler. Come and smell the bread baking, the soup simmering, the pie cooling on the rack, and fall in love with friendly country gossip.

March 16-20, spring brings another free book! Poverty’s Perpetual Persistence,

Experience my world through the eyes of poetry, as I reminisce on life’s unforgettable moments, and on the choices I have made and still make with what I do with my remaining years. The imagination tree is wide; come and sit awhile. You’re so welcome to be here. Would you like some spring tea and shortbread?

March 23-27 brings a Brand-new book: The Space Trilogy, over 500 pages, and so new, I haven’t even got the cover back yet or the ISBN, but keep reading the newsletter/webpage.  I’ll be posting it soon. I’ll set it for free for 5 days to allow you to read it and review it.

March 29-April 5, our special is a contest! I am running an everyday free autographed paperback book contest. That’s 8 free books (8 chances to win, one per day), an actual printed copy, mailed to each winner the week I return from the beach and can get them packed to mail. There are two ways to win, and to be 100% transparent, I am looking for new members and reviewers.  For every friend/relative you invite who joins our email list to get the newsletter, you get one entry. They can join from the website by signing up on the contact sheet and leaving a comment indicating you referred them, or by sharing the email newsletter and replying to let us know they’re joining because you invited them. For joining up right now, they also get an entry.  So, every new reader gets an entry, and the person who referred them does as well. I am hoping for at least a hundred new emails.

There are 4 specials and one contest!  If you want to start sharing the contest with other people starting March 1, you can.  My tabulator has been set to accept them into the drawing, but it won’t be held until April 5. Good luck!  And Happy spring!
