The CBW is in love with “her” new tank; all 125 gallons of it. We had to do something; due to the drought and possibly interference with the natural water flow by the water department county engineers, the well overflow now runs out over the back bank and not into our farm ponds. They have no idea what happened, of course. They blame the drought. We are 12 inches low on waterfall for the summer going into fall. The trees are not turning colors, the leaves are shriveling and falling with very little color to it. It makes me sad. However, the tank makes us all pretty happy. It took a bit of doing to get things rearranged so we could set up a tank. It took us four days, set up, planted and arranged, a filter set up, experimental feeder fish tossed in to make sure the water and such were nicely balanced, and water in it. The CBW could not figure what we were doing; she thought the tank was for the cute little fishies. We had her go with Scott to catch the ones in the pond and fetch up the 4 that remained. She’s pretty excited by it all.
Harvest and winter prep are going well. The man who is putting in a new A/C/Furnace in our big house is ill so can’t come til Monday; Fawn and Scott keep looking at houses to buy; Dan’s bees are being rapidly destroyed by yellow jackets no matter what he tries(he has had 3 out of 5 hives destroyed. He has yellow jacket traps and is catching hundreds of them but they must come from a huge hive somewhere; they keep coming and killing like the pirates they are. This live has ups and downs and wasps/yellow jackets are definitely a down.
