Just in Time for Lent or any other spiritual time; how to deal with your own grief

More snow, more cold out; roads are not icy but slippery on corners and bridges, so be careful, dear wanderers; we do not need more ditch diving. Fawn was visiting a client when she tried to go up a hill and found herself going down as she lost traction and went backwards; she safely maneuvered it down and decided not to attempt that hill. She headed to the next place, which was in the flatland areas, and called the first person to explain that she could not get up the hill. She’d not had to do that before, and she was pretty shaken.
Yesterday was odd; a strange, large husky/malamute-type dog came into our yard. Having a stray dog in the town area come here is not all that odd, but I told Dan the dog was out looking over the barnyard, he went out to chase it away, and it tore past Dan and into our house; it ran right by the CBW in the living room, who thought it was a lark, through the kitchen, past poor Bambi in her pen with the sleeping puppies, stopping to water her cage, then in thru the front room and onto the porch where it attempted to get into the aviary.
Dan caught up, got a leash on it and stuck it in a stall in the stable. I called animal control. It was after hours, but the lady said someone had put in a report of a missing dog that morning, and she sent them an email, and they showed up in our driveway. They lived around a mile from us. They took their dog, apologized and left. It was unsettling; before he left, he’d marked territory all over our yard and now the pom dads are going nuts trying to relabel their territory and are quite crabby. I had to disinfect Bambi’s whelping/baby pen. The alpaca looks upon their stable with alarm as it now smells wrong. She finally settled down.

We are finding homes for our extra baby quail, and they are sweeties. The puppies have their eyes open, and the wild bird feeder has been infested with squirrels and grackles. We are putting our heads together and trying to figure out a way to keep them away and give the local birds the food they need to survive.
I’ve heard bird flu spreads and can be spread by wild birds. I hope not. I enjoy my wild birds as much as our chickens.
