And let me say, good gracious, it’s warm!

And I’ve heard getting warmer. According to the heat index (basically a formula where temperature + humidity equals the real feel of the weather) we’ve hit 100′ this afternoon. Our alpaca travel to the water, then back to heavy shade, lie down and rest. The dogs drink and pant and sleep in the shade. The barn cats have disappeared. Dan and I are lagging a bit.
Fawn and Scott are moving stuff from their old home to their newly bought home. This is their first real house; they’ve rented or lived in a mobile home up til this. It’s light green with dark green trim, two stories, in basic good shape but needs some TLC which they are giving it. And in the middle of the move, Scott had a car accident and had to take time out to have his car scheduled for repair. They are tired, hot, and frustrated at the delay in moving their big stuff; can’t pull a trailer with the front side of the car mashed up.
I suppose it’s easier to think about the heat and personal concerns than the various hot spots over the globe threatening to blow up: Israel/Iran, Ukraine/Russia, Democrats vs Republicans who can’t figure out how to write a budget; just balance it folks, the rest of us have to balance ours. I heard recently a fight broke out in a local Old Folks home. Even the CBW is crabby. It’s the first day of summer and tempers are already getting out of hand.

However, thanks to a lot of hard work, ARC readers, and my cover designer, our newest book in the Hidden America series is out and will be our special this week. (By the way, if you are interested in being an arc reader, let me know.)
From June 23-27 Firebird Simmers is free! Join me again as we walk through the secluded and lost places in the Americas. Legends, tales, myths, folklore, traditions are all based on something, something that once was there or is still; there and only seen by those judged safe to trust. We continue the story with the Firebird, the ancient womanbird that brings the storms, the fire and protects the people. What legends live where you live? Have you seen something slide behind a boulder, seen only as a blink out of the corner of an eye? Do you wonder at things that slip by in the darkness? Are you convinced we know all we know about the natural world? Just perhaps, are you willing to walk this path again and find more about what you cannot see? Join me as we travel down this twisted path to knowledge once known. Meet the firebird for free this week. This is book four of the series.
Now get a nice big glass of lemonade, settle back in a chair near the A/C, get away from the world’s troubles and relax. You deserve a break for you. Realize you are appreciated by this writer very much.
