What a wild, woolly, wet week! We’ve had storms on and off, mostly at night, that flooded roads, tore off shingles, and, in general, created chaos. I think the first day we had 2 inches reported, almost 2 the second, and who knows for tonight? The ground is pretty well saturated out there, and the creek is overflowing high enough to tear up the watercress we have growing in it, leaving a narrow, empty channel right down the middle from the beginning of the stream up by the barnyard to the end of the pasture. The frogs, turtles, and herons are fine; I haven’t seen the fingerlings/minnows come out, but since the herons are back, the little buggers are in there somewhere.

And since I could not go out, I spent the time getting hardback and paperback covers on our newest redo books, Rise of the Rebellion and Kitchen Memories. Let me know what you think of the new covers! I also did a total re-edit of Rise of the Rebellion. It has new scenes and rewrites, and I think it’s a much better book. It’s also about 40 pages longer. I rough-drafted the Christmas book and will start the first coherency edit tomorrow night. I’ve outlined the next series. In short, lots of bookish stuff is happening. And did I mention I taught class at the library on how to end a book?
Since their mom is in NY visiting, I have had both cherubs here most of the week, and they are getting to be quite the handful. Violet went to see her barnyard pets yesterday, left the gate open, and when I came out, the alpaca herd was eating my yard daylilies, the grass, and anything else they found green. The nasturtiums are totally gone. So are the cleome and some of the mums. I got the beasties chased back in with Fawn’s help. Dan was in class. Did I tell you Dan is auditing a history class? He’s taking Western Civilizations before 1500-stories about stuff older than him. So far, it’s been enjoyable.

I’ve got something grand to offer for you this week! My gracious, there are three specials in one week, and one of them is brand-spanking new. Just look at this lineup for you to binge on…and if you have KU, all of them are free. If not, just 99 cents per download.
Sept. 15-22 The Sage, the Swindler and the Sheep continues to be 99 cents until Tuesday!

In Colossians, Paul urged all his people to stay true to God and sort out the cults that were rapidly forming around Jesus and His legacy of salvation and truth. It’s up to us to decide if he was an interfering old grump or a far-seeing prophet.
Our newest book of insightful poetry, Life’s Flashbacks, starts Wednesday, Sept. 23-30, and will launch as an Amazon download for one week: just 99 cents.

I welcome you to wander with me in the realm of poetry. Let’s relive some of the events that shaped our world. Grab a cup of tea, some shortbread, and relax. Sit. Sip. Remember what matters. Escape from the noise of your life into the quietness that descends like a fuzzy blanket over your heart. It’s safe and friendly here for a visit. From the thoughts of the small to the musings of the old, the road is not far to a friend’s heart. I’ll be glad to have you. We can rest from the rumbles of life, gain strength, and be ourselves again. Share your child/grandchild pictures, sit a spell, tell me what you think; it won’t take long to rest. I can’t wait to hear from you.
And to make the week special for us all. A third special is running the same week!
September 23-30, our bestseller, You Can’t Make this Stuff Up, book 1 of the Social Work Memoirs series, is also on special as a 99-cent download. So many good memories in this book! Many have read it and consider it the best book of social work memoirs they’ve ever read.

Over the 28 years I have been in professional Social Work, I’ve met people from the privileged to the poor and most of their relatives. It gets greasy, gritty, gracious, and no way glamorous; heart, chaos, and comedy; uncensored. Real lives, real laughs, real heartbreak; it’s all in here! Social work: wilder than fiction, funnier too. You need a copy of this book for those days when you can’t believe people can get any odder. I can vouch for that.
That sums it up for this week.
I can’t wait to read your reviews and comments about these three. I always appreciate hearing from you. Have a blessed week. Take care of yourself.
Don’t forget to write! Oh, and if you want to exchange Christmas cards with me this year, get me your snail mail address. I’m getting the list ready, and every tenth person who joins the fun wins a book package, in addition to the Christmas card.
