Birthdays, chicks, AI, and a summer contest
We have had a lovely time celebrating Dan’s birthday most days this week; we had a birthday party, of course, but folks kept dropping by with small remembrances and such that it made it feel like he had a weeklong celebration. He deserves it; at our age, you can’t have too much fun.
The baby chicks are fine; they’ve got wing feathers now and so far, no predation because the mom, a little Welsummer hen, is as feisty as a Marine Corps bulldog. I doubt she would hesitate to take on a dog, coon, or little kid trying to pet her chicks. She would tear them to bits. I did see her take a couple hard pecks at one of our barn cats. He left missing fur; she had a beakful of cat fluff.
My MRI came back, and it was not good news; there may be a surgery in my future. Maybe more later.
Dan and I head for the Cleveland Clinic brain study next Friday so that I won’t be posting. We’re participants in a study trying to find a cure for Alzheimer’s and other brain disorders causing dementia. And yes, another MRI among other “non-invasive” tests. We hope it helps, but tell you what, I do not like MRI’s. There is a comedian I heard recently who was likening the MRI machine to being shot at; they tell you to lie down, don’t move, hold still, and when the machine starts up, it sounds exactly like gunfire. I agree with his sentiments.
Have you ever tried looking yourself up on Google? I looked up myself and then my latest SW book and got a wealth of data on myself. AI makes me truly amazing-it’s a fun experience-you ought to try it. I almost did not recognize myself.
