Plus some Chaos
I am sorry for not posting on Friday; it was our 52nd wedding anniversary, and Danny and I were visiting greenhouses and going to Olive Garden to celebrate. We got home quite late. I got some lovely plants to put in my perennial garden, along with hanging baskets and annuals to scatter around the yard beds. This is going to be a good week, I think, between finishing the final draft of my next self-help devotional about dealing with loneliness, completing the rough draft of Social Work Memoir # 4, and having Mother’s Day in the same week. I suppose to balance out the blessings, a certain little girl had to cause a little chaos:
Our 4-year-old great-granddaughter managed to steal several of her mom’s Dove chocolates that were supposedly out of her reach. Mom banished her from the kitchen to the yard.
So she went up to look for us, but we were gone, so she took a box of Band-Aids and doctored up all the kittens, since they needed to feel better. I have 4 barn kittens, age 5 weeks old, covered in floral Band-Aids. They felt fine before. Now their mother cat has to figure out a way to get all those bandages off them. I can’t help; they won’t come near humans right now.
Done with the hospital game, Violet came back into my house to use the potty and, on the way out, to borrow my good sewing shears to “trim the hostas.” They did not need trimming. I hope they will survive. Otherwise, I shall need to replant others to replace the shredded ones.
She found three Lindt chocolate truffles left over from Easter and ate them. That makes 7 Dove chocolates and 3 truffles; and although she did not want supper, she seems fine, if a little hyperactive. (Who am I kidding? A lot hyperactive…)
When we got back, she told me she might have been bad, but I still needed to get ready for her birthday. She wants a party. Her birthday isn’t until November. Is that diverting, triangulating, or what? It makes me fear for her teen years.
And that was just one day. Our yard is fenced in, and her mother was trying to catch up on her own housework and laundry. Since they live in our garage apartment, Violet runs back and forth between the house and the garage. I do not usually lock my house in case she needs to run in for a drink or to go potty. I am not usually gone for an entire day.
And next week, we will be going camping for the first time this year, taking the munchkins with us. In the meantime, this week’s special is grand.
