I Can do it all by myself!

Our CPW (Cutest Preschooler in our World) has started learning to write her letters and read; we’re using a phonics method, and she is doing well. Learning to decode sounds and meanings is rewarding ; the first ‘I read it myself’ word is always fun. (In this case, a-am-Sam-as) And her piece of the week to learn as far as music is Jesu,. Joy of Man’s Desiring. She went to the Tomato festival with her Uncle Scott and Aunt Fawn and had a fantastic, french fry and funnel cake spiked evening. Bedtime was not easy that night.
The puppies are starting to eat by themselves and not nurse from their mom as much. It’s always a little surprising when they grow. One moment, they haven’t got their eyes open, and the next, they are charging around their pen, scrabbling over milk, bread, and puppy kibble. The littlest great-granddaughter is keeping her eyes open wide for more extended periods; she’s learning about the world.
If fall is coming in, I need to buy a box of crayons: I have this urge every end of summer. Did you know they now have boxes of 196 crayons? When I was a kid, 24 was terrific. I believe I’ll get one of those. I really ought to make a collection of them. Then I can open one of them every fall and smell that new crayon smell anytime I get nostalgic for second grade.
This week’s specials are just right for cooler, quiet fall-is-coming afternoons; a little introspective, a little thoughtful, and much comforting. Here they are:
