As I write this, it’s Friday, the preparation day for us. The sky is overcast, the air is cooler, a little fog is hanging and good grief, it’s supposed to be summer, right? The weather this year has been consistently out of synch, so I am thinking that we ought to rearrange the calendar. Shorten a few months and add some in to account for the odd weather. Might seem drastic, but it’s 61’ out there right now, not 71’ which would be normal for this time of day. Leaves are turning in August, the hosta are dying down. Or perhaps we ought to just kiss normal out of our lives. At least the baby is doing fine, Penelope and all the other ones, puppies, kittens and kids. You’d think it was spring!

Can you believe that after the beginning of peace talks, Putin is still bombing Ukraine? I mean, no, Ukraine are not innocents either but really, deliberately bombing before the engines on their jets got cold from the trip to Alaska? I do not know what a considered response to this ought to be or how to keep this from escalating into world war IV, but the folks who do those things ought to remember that not blinking kept us out of the Cuban missile crisis when it looked as if Russia was going to bomb the US from Cuba back in 1962 (there are lessons to be learned from history.) Kennedy didn’t blink, he backed his words and they backed off. Bullies most always will. Putin is the world’s worst bully. Makes this old lady wish she were still an infant in mom’s arms.
Away from the crazy and on to the better things. The baby is doing well. The puppies have their eyes open and are starting to drink from a dish, the kittens living among the hostas have their eyes open as well. The barn is stuffed with hay and we are busy in the middle of canning/freezing season.(Doing tomatoes this weekend, and making zucchini bread to freeze also.) Dan’s building a new solar array. I’m writing and making quilts again. Things are fine here on our little homestead heaven. And this is the new special and it fits with what the world is doing:
This week to be, August 24-31, Tea, Me, and Memory, our historically based, narrative poetry book, will be a 99 cent special download on Amazon.
Join me in the realm of poetry as I spend time remembering some of the events that shaped my world. Pour yourself a cup of tea, sit down and join me as I describe what the world was, is, and ought to be. We’ll take a poetic journey through the highs and lows of life, one verse at a time. I’ll be glad of your visit and perhaps we can find answers to some of this world’s issues through looking at past events. Get your copy this week; you will enjoy it.
And now off to work. I need to prep this house for the weekend, dash out to the grocery and start assembling the quilt I cut out yesterday. Blessings and peace!
