Happy Almost Thanksgiving!
The CBW, Fawn and Scott and I went shopping Friday to the nearest big city, Columbus, and it’s environs, population 2,113,719 I am told. Nearly 914,000 live in the city limits. That’s a lot of souls and they were all on the highway while we were poking along trying to find the stores we needed to get to and we made most of them; the teaching store, half-price books, the mall and Ikea. Ikea is an import store, everything made in Sweden or some such thing; they have a restaurant that tries to cater to just about everyone and succeeds mostly, except for the veggie meatballs. They had undisclosed kale in them. I ended up having an allergic reaction. This is not the sort of thing one needs to do in a strange place; luckily, I had taken one bite, noticed my mouth was starting to swell and genteelly spat it out. I flushed myself out with lots of water and a container of milk to stop me from doing anything embarrassing, like needing an ambulance. Intrepid Christmas shoppers that we are, we then went back to shopping, bought way too many stuffed animals for the CBW, and got most of what was on my list. I won’t be going back to Columbus anytime soon.
We had snow; around an inch, which was washed away by rain and right now, it’s just gloomy and overcast outside. I’m inside, resting and writing. I have a huge pile of gifts to get sorted and wrapped which is lovely. It shows how many blessings we’ve had this year. And speaking of blessings-
