Hello again! Hoping your week has gone well. And guess what? It’s not raining! I say that because my favorite weatherman just announced that as of today, we have exactly twice the rainfall for May than is normal; we are on our way to breaking a record. I suppose if you have to have a record for something, rain is as good as any.
Getting into the garden has been hard, and cutting hay is impossible. However, the irises are blooming…
Spring may not have been suitable for gardening, but the rain has enabled me to complete another book and head into yet a third for this month. There will be another Social Worker memoir book; I’ve had so many people send me comments and notes about more stories I couldn’t refuse. It wasn’t hard to step back into the recesses of my mind and remember tales about a 25+ year long career; my issue is more about what I leave out. I will publish the next two books in the Hidden America series shortly. It’s called Firebird Simmers, a hint about the next not-so-mythological beings we’re going to visit.
In the meantime, this weekend, Fawn and I are heading to the Great Lakes Fiber Festival in Wooster, OH, in search of pretty drop spindles and odd fibers to spin. Last year, I got baby camel, pineapple and soybean silk! And I got a kick spindle and an automated spinner I have yet to use. (I just have to give up and be an old lady sitting around with nothing better to do than sit and spin soon; I just haven’t had the time to stop!) We’ll see what that brings. And Memorial Day is upon us, so we also have a few things to prep for that. In June, we’ll be heading out for a powwow, and in July, we’re going to St. Louis and around that, cutting hay and caring for our animals and writing. Which brings me to this week’s special:
