What do Airports, Death, and Poetry Have in Common?

They all happened this week!

We lost great -grandpa at the airport and Gramma and I went to the mall.

Hello, everyone! It has been an incredible week of ups and downs.

I got the cover back from the designer and it is lovely; very soon, You Still Can’t Make This Up, Book Two, will be published. I know many have been waiting forever for it, or it seems so.  Book one just came out last year, but it has been one of our best-received books.  Thank you for all your kind reviews and requests for more stories about life in my world.

On Thursday, the birth dad of our two adopted grandkids died from a massive stroke. He was only 47. It makes you wonder about your own mortality.  The kids did not know him well; they had just gotten to know him in the last couple of years. At his choice, he had little to do with them until they were grown; after they became adults, he made contact.  It’s so sad; the years had eaten up any chance of a good relationship.  One of the kids intends to go to the memorial service; the other does not.  They are young adults and can make up their own minds what will be the best for their hearts.

On the upside, we have been finding homes for all the excess baby button quail.  Just twelve more need homes. Bambi is taking good care of her litter, and they have started eating for themselves.

And the CBW is helping them to tame down! She loves petting them.

Dan flew to Maine to care for his brother. He had to switch planes at Reagan Airport, and they canceled the flight to Bangor, so Dan had to fly to Portland, rent a car, and drive the last 110 miles to Bradford in the dark during a wintry storm with a nonfunctional GPS. He will be thoroughly glad to come home.

And right now, it’s just 13 days until calendar spring, or as we call it, false spring. There are always storms and frost after that.   However, it’s nice to know it’s coming.

Join me in the realm of poetry this week as I spend time remembering some of the events that shaped my world.  Pour yourself a cup of tea, sit down, and join me as I describe what the world was, is, and ought to be.  I’ll be glad of your visit.

For the next five days only, March 10-14, Tea, Me, and Memory will be a free download on Amazon!

And now I need to go see why the CBW is suddenly, inexplicitly quiet when she is supposed to be playing with her magnetic letters. Peace to all and enjoy the book!
