It takes one broken water pump on the clothes washer…and a couple small holes in the barrel, one unsuspecting person adding a load of laundry and turning it on; everything starts leaking big time and voila! It freezes on the pantry floor.

Minus zero weather the last 5 nights, with icy breezes dropping temps to a wind chill down to the -15/20’ range, is the tale of woe this week; and it’s way up to single digits right now. However, in the house it’s warm, and I’m making steady progress on cleaning up for the weekend.
Our washer died; I actually wondered if it or the dishwasher would lose the race, but the clothes washer made it to the finish line to oblivion first. We had to go out in the cold and buy another, but it will arrive next week. I really didn’t appreciate having to go out, much less spend all that money on something as mundane as a washer, but you do what you have to do to be civilized. Dan is hauling out the old one for recycling right now; amazing what one man and a dolly can do.
I have just seen the ultrasounds verifying that the CBW’s mom is expecting a little one come August; she is hoping for another girl, but I’d be happy if it’s simply born both of them safe and sound.

The baby quail are healthy and thriving. Our CBW is learning to write her name. Her bird feeder is full of birds, but unfortunately, we’ve attracted several squirrels. I thought they semi- hibernated in winter? Guess not. Ours are out there in spite of the cold, dashing and tumbling over each other.
And I have two very, very grand specials for you; the first one we are all excited about is our Mystery Blind date with a Book Boxes; they were lots of fun to make and we have three sizes. You can see them on my FB page, https://www.facebook.com/travelerpelton
or go to Etsy where our new storefront is
And our special for the week runs from January 25-29. The Oberllyn Origins is a free download on Amazon. How did the Oberllyn indigenous spy network get its start? Find out at
30 to February 3, Accidental Anomalies is a free download-what is living in the lowest basements of the Center?

And mind you, we got all that done despite the death of an appliance, a flooded pantry that froze into a pond to slide on; the extreme cold, one munchkin down with strep throat, and Dan having surgery. God bless and see you next week! Maybe we’ll have an earthquake or volcano just for a change.
