Will winter come suddenly and straighten this mess out?
Although the CBW did get to eat that cookie, the cookie jar was placed again, we hope out of reach. Meanwhile, we’re already putting the garden to bed. That’s about 3 weeks early. The guys are out right now putting in the second cutting of hay for the alpaca. It’s a good heavy cutting and should hold us over the winter, when that suddenly shows up like fall did. The school kids are all back in class, the weather this week has been dry and 72′, 50 at night-that feels so much like fall I had to buy a new box of crayons. Next week is supposed to be more summerlike, but the damage is done; the leaves are falling off the trees. The last dahlia has been picked, and things are turning brown with the dry and coolness.
Our barn kittens are growing like weeds; the weeds are seeding, the puppies are ready for new homes.
This week the great guys from Gunther’s shearing came by to do teeth and toes before winter. Ad they trimmed the hooves of each alpaca, the CBWZ watched and encouraged the animals to “Sit still, good baby,” and afterwards wanted to know why they hadn’t gotten any polish color on their nails like she gets when she sits still like a good baby and has her nails done.
